Meredith and I heard this new track by Kid Cudi featuring MGMT and Ratatat a few weeks back when it first came out (dropped?) and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but now, I’m really digging it. I’m the farthest thing from a music critic so I won’t pretend to analyze it, but I’ll just say that it’s calming without putting you to sleep. If you like MGMT, you’ll probably like this.

Last night I made a play list. Usually I spend hours (and I mean hours) going through and picking songs to make sure they fit the right mood/season/outfit/hair style but last night I just threw a bunch of albums on there that I wanted to listen to. Result: pure magic. Most of the bands were recommended from thedith, some from Nylon, Pitchfork, or other friends. Anyway, the moral of the story is that I should listen to whole albums more often.
A Perfect Storm

Carlos of Cheap Trick and Taylor Hanson of Hanson in a room together? Surprisingly, The Best Idea Ever. It’s like they took the best parts of their bands and put it together to make an extremely fun mix of power pop, alternative rock and pop punk. The music is upbeat and tap-your-toes worthy, but not screechy, over synthesized and produced pop music. I love it because it looks and sounds like they’re all having fun. Happy music = happy people. Truth nugget.
The first song below is my favorite but the second one is their “hit single” slash the one they’re promoting the most. Also, try not to do the Carlton Dance to the second one. I dare you.

Chicks who rock
A good beat
The French
Bangs
So, it should come as no surprise that I’m currently digging Plastiscines, a band of four rockin’ chicks with catchy songs, perfect bangs, and who are, oh yeah, French. Plastiscines are on tour now, with a new Album called Barcelona. The title track is even in English. Check ’em out on Myspace. Here’s a music video:
