Watching Three Men and a Baby of course. True or False: I totally loved this movie when I was 5. Of course I did. As I’m watching it now, I clearly had no idea that it was about three guys who were total man sluts. One of them being Steve Guttenberg. I was such a weird girl.

WITCHES ARE COMING TO HOLLYWOOD!
Posted in Movies, Uncategorized with tags I want more witches!!, movie news, tween queens, vampires, Why are people obsessed with vampires?, witches, witches are so emo on October 25, 2009 by melsanieIt looks like someone read my post about witches becoming the new vampires. Since mythical creatures aren’t going away anytime soon, Dreamworks just scooped up the rights to what they hope will take over when the vampire craze dies out–Witches!
The story is about Holly Cathers, a teenager who discovers that she’s the descendant of a coven of witches and then falls in love with a witch from a rival coven. Yep, this movie has tween written all over it and I couldn’t be more excited. Sure, the plot is thin, trite and and the success of the it lays in the hands of the casting director, but I’ll be following the updates closely. Witches! Special powers! Flying! So awesome!

I Saw This
Posted in Movies, Uncategorized with tags animation, hayo mizaki is the man, ponyo, this movie made no sense but it sure was pretty on September 21, 2009 by thedith
So, I can cross seeing Hayao Miyzaki’s Ponyo off my to do list. While I can’t say that I really understood what was going on in the movie — despite the fact that all the voices were done by English speaking actors, and everything was in English…it sure was fun to look at. The movie was all traditional, hand-drawn animation. And the backgrounds were done in colored pencil and pastels which was really awesome. I’m forced to make the conclusion that the stellar reviews it got from The New York Times, The New Yorker, et al. were based on the fact that the images were brilliant — not the storyline.
I’m Always 2000 and Late

Plus, I heard the book is better than the movie
Always late to the party, I juuuust saw Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist. Everyone told me it was really bad, but actually? I kind of liked it. Similar to when I saw Along Came Polly, I was expecting a train wreck of a movie, and was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t hate it. In fact, I’m going to go on record here and say that I maybe kind of liked it. Okay, no, I did. Got me. Michael Cera and Kat Dennings did it for me (geek and girl crush, respectively), and the soundtrack was pretty legit for the most part. Maybe I downloaded half of it. So, what?
I think I learned a valuable lesson about life from watching this movie. The key is, in life, you should just always have low expectations, so that way when you experience something, you appreciate the fact that at least it wasn’t as bad as you imagined it would be. Or something…

She then turns and begins to, as she put it, “whip Lisa’s skinny ass”. The next few minutes are the best part of the movie with both women opening up a can of grade A whip ass on each other. They kick, slap, head butt and finally tumble their way down a staircase. While Sharon is stunned Lisa gets up and runs upstairs. Sharon is right on her heels and the women end up in the attic. Armed with a 2 by 4, Lisa proceeds to use Sharon’s legs as batting practice. Balancing herself on some badass four-inch heels, Sharon backs up along a strip of wood, taunting Lisa to come and get her. Lisa swings and falls onto a weak portion of flooring and falls through. Hanging on for dear life, Lisa dangles from the ceiling and we get a view of the floor below and the huge glass coffee table below. In a Lifetime movie move, Sharon suddenly grabs Lisa’s hand and tries to pull her up. And in return Lisa tries to pull Sharon with her. Sharon finally finds her cajones and pries Lisa’s fingers apart and Lisa drops, crashing into the table below. Lying amidst the glass and twisted metal, Lisa slowly opens her eyes and tries to move. But the swinging chandelier gets her attention, weakened by her fall through the ceiling; it is hanging on by a cord. When it stops swinging, it suddenly falls spearing Lisa beneath it.

Have you had a couple glasses of wine and some vodka tonics, wandered around the city, and given several different strangers several different aliases and phone numbers? Do you want to cap off the night with a movie you “borrowed” from the apartment your friend is house sitting? If you ever find yourself in this circumstance, let me offer a friendly suggestion on what movie NOT to take…
Seriously, don’t do it.
