At Least I Wouldn’t Skin a Collie to Make a Backpack
Posted in east coast vs. west coast, fashion, hipsters, i want this, New York City, San Francisco with tags faux-fur hats, i hate it -- so why do i want it?, mmmwhatchu say?, so ugly on January 12, 2010 by thedith
“That’s what I like about your generation. You guys aren’t afraid to wear really stupid things.” — Caitlin’s dad.
Okay, I know I made fun of faux-fur hats when I was in New York; I saw them everywhere, and they look ugly and retarded. That being said, now that I’m back in San Francisco, and no one wears fur hats, all the sudden, I MUST have one. I mean, I know it rarely gets cold enough even to see your breath here (actually, more the reason to want one), but mark my words, faux-fur hat is going to be my first “WTF, you’re an idiot. You know you can’t buy groceries this week now, right?” purchase of 2010.
Feeling Sassy?
Posted in commercials, fashion, hey it's friday, seen on the interweb with tags as seen on tv, designer leopard print, does anyone own a slanket?, fug articles of clothing, infomercials, necky, snuggie on January 8, 2010 by thedithI love Snuggies/Slankets, because I’m often bundled up beneath a blanket, trying to watch tv, read a book, or reach for the remote, and I need to be able to use my hands. But let’s face it, while great for lounging, you can’t really schlep around town in a blanket with sleeves. That’s why I’m glad they invented the Necky. They help protect my neck and chest from the cold, without the annoying gaps of regular scarves! Perfect for taking a walk in the woods, bundling the kids up for school, and enjoying the big game! It even comes in Designer Leopard Print, for when you’re feeling sassy! Don’t believe me? Watch, below:
*Note: I’m not in any way getting paid to promote the Necky, I’m just a fan of this commercial. And designer leopard print.

Fashion Week Recap
Posted in adventures in life, fashion, Lists with tags anna wintour, chanel iman is gorgeous, fashion, fashion week, i might actually buy and pay attention to vogue now, i need more clothes, i need more shoes, i need to make more money so i can buy things, life lessons, things i covet, vogue on September 18, 2009 by melsanie- High heels are a must at all times. ALL.TIMES.
- The weirder you look, the more your picture will be taken.
- Male models, though cute, are not the best runway walkers.
- Anna Wintour is more intimidating in person, which is awesome.
- The love of fashion is contagious but fashion sense is not.
- The tents are really hot and fans or a cooling system are a must because sweat is the worst accessory. Ha.
- I felt way too entitled this week.
- In order to feel entitled I need to attend a fashion show party and sit closer to the runway.
- Favorite collections: Oscar de la Renta, Milly by Michelle, Jason Wu, Max Azria, Christian Siriano, Sophie Theallet
- I went to the tents more than once and neither developed an eating nor a body image issue. I see that as a huge win.

My Fleeting Attempt at Being a Fashionista
Posted in adventures in life, celebrities, fashion, inapropriately long posts, Uncategorized with tags 90210, anna wintour, Annalynne McCord, Choire Sicha, Fashion's Night Out, feeling super special, i'm getting sucked into the world of anna wintour and i kind of like it, I'm not meant to be a fashionista even though I desperately want to be one, Janice Dickinson, Kellan Lutz, Lizzie Grubman, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010, Monarchy, Rachel Zoe, Russell Simmons, Sham-Wow, Simon Doonan, twilight, Vivienne Tam on September 15, 2009 by melsanieSo I’ve lived in New York for about three years now and all this time I have never taken part in any fashion activities so this year I figured I should at least see what all the hubbub is about. I should mention that it helps that I also have a contact at IMG who got me into fashion shows. Lesson here kids: it’s never what you know, it’s who you know. Don’t stay in school, just learn how to mingle and fake a degree from an Ivy League or at least FIT.
