When Mel moves to her new Bkln pad, I’m going to come visit.  I google mapped the trip.  Only 12 days by bike! Big Apple, Here I come!

Deep Thoughts

Apparently, there was a 4.1 earthquake in the Bay Area today, around 10 am.  I found out about it via facebook statuses when I woke up at 11am.  This leads me to believe, that when “The Big One” hits, I’ll be like those people in Titanic, who slept right on through the ship sinking.  [ed note: i still don’t understand how you sleep through a fucking ship sinking?! All the screaming, and violin music? That wouldn’t wake you up? What about the gun fight between Leo and Billy Zane? No? Guns don’t wake you up? How about the fact that you’re in the fucking arctic!  That water is fucking cold! No? None of that woke you up? Okay, wow. I give up.]

Are we still raising the roof?

So, unless that case of the swine flu you caught the other day has left you disoriented and/or amnesiatic, you probably know that our economy? Not so hot right now.  And California? Not the healthiest state in The Union. You may have heard that California has the fourth highest unemployment rate in the country; or that the entire state ran out of cash in February .  Today, I read that one million Californians are unemployed.  That’s right, 1 million.  You’d think that this would kind of bum people out.  You’d be wrong. Now that no one has to work during the day, people are happier than ever.  Take my neighborhood for example:

 

My local park was teeming with people sprawled luxuriously in the sun.  Some were shirtless, others wore bathing suits — and only two were just crazy homeless people.  None were tourists.  The sidewalk cafes were littered with Yuppy couples and friends, probably trading composting tips; gelato shops were packed with hooded-headed hipsters.  I could go on, except, what is going on San Francisco?  No one is at work, and no one seems to mind.  Is there a such thing as “funemployment?”

I’d ask my unemployed musician neighbor who lives upstairs, but he’s too busy blasting gypsy carnival music to answer.

A Hella Inconvenient Truth

What I love about California: Great weather.

What I don’t love about California: Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth was pretty much based on this state.

 

So, while it may be 88 degrees and sunny out today, it’s also a bad ozone day.  Meaning, I won’t be spending the day at the beach, instead I’ll be inside, protecting my lungs from smog, and “sparing the air” by not driving.  Hella sweet, bro.

Legit hella sweet though? MTV has episodes of The Real World San Francisco up online.  San Francisco was one of the first seasons of the Real World — you know, back before it started to suck. New Orleans was the last not retarded one right?
